So I was really looking forward to the upcoming movie. After I watched the trailer I feel so disappointed and sad. The trailer has nothing to do with the book I read and loved years ago. I mean the coolest thing about it is, that Artemis is a 12 year old cold-blooded villain. The movie just looks like a bad disney mix of spy kids and Men in Black where "Artemis" (the boy from the movie has basically nothing common with book-Artemis) works together with the characters he fought in the book. After the terrible eragon and Percy Jackson films, Artemis Fowl is just another great young adult book that got completely screwed by the movie industry. I mean that in regards to who they cast for Root. I don’t know her name or anything about her acting capabilities, but the issue here is that she is a woman and Holly was supposed to be the first female LEP officer. I don’t mind Butler being black, but I don’t like his hair. It ruins a later plot point. Butler shaves his head bald and lets it grow out in mourning once he thinks Artemis is dead. I also felt like there was no need to make his eyes blue, but that’s neither here nor there. level 1 Sure it could! Disney makes great animations. And it's easier to make the magical characters that way level 2 Is not about the visuals, I hope Disney learns with star wars that the way the story is delivered is more important, and that they need to give the writers some creative space, rebels was good, resistance was bad, and the 2 episodes of clone wars are very good, I hope they keep the trend after clone wars with other animated series, and also understand that animated doesn't mean for kids level 2 While I agree that Disney makes great animations, I honestly don’t want Disney to have anything to do with Artemis Fowl. They’re in it for money and I feel that they have little to no regard for the actual story and have made the story more consumable for a wider audience, but by doing that, they change everything about Artemis that we love. level 1 I think it would make a good animated t. v show. Then they could get all the stories with full detail level 1 Heck if they stuck to a script that was actually based on the books they would have a really good live action movie as well. This movie seems like it going to be like that Percy Jackson shit show level 2 Idk what Hollywood’s obsession is with fucking with book storylines despite the most god awful track record with the way they do things level 1 I think it would make a great anime. One of the biggest tropes in anime is when the protaganist is 10 steps ahead and then monologues their position, which I could totally see super-genius Artemis doing. Like: I actually hid your bombs in the one one place where they were protected from the ignition signal— your below the floor ice chest! *pushes up glasses* And I predicted you would want a snack after our ship got away and would open the chest, to your surprise, setting off the bombs once we were safe and sound! The fantasy aspect of the series would have been a really good reason for Disney to try getting Studio Ghibli involved with this project. level 2 I think Disney just needs to stay away. I think Atlantis Complex was my least favourite, but it was still good. The Time Paradox was definitely my favourite!! But I dunno, it seems like it may not be worth the effort for you tho.
